• Visual organisers for exploring genre.
• Pyramid organisers for linking themes to plots and for developing characters.
• Visualisation techniques for engaging with text.

Session 4: Ownership and Authority.

• The board-game strategy for exploring story.
• ‘Webtales’ – creating interactive narratives on the computer.
• ‘Whodunnit?’ – the mysteries strategy for motivating reading and writing.
• Choose-your-own-adventures and story trees.

Session 5: Reading Strategies and Metacognition.

• Ten tips for motivating reading.
• Learning basic vocabulary the accelerated learning way.
• VAK and spelling.
• Reading strategies based on how the brain learns.
